Marcus ‘Big Pen’ Samuel, 38, of Warren, Michigan called police on March 27, 2017 after he overheard his girlfriend conspiring to rob him. Minutes later, he was shot dead in the street before officers arrived.A dispatch operator received a call from Marcus at about 9:50 p.m. He told the dispatcher that he was monitoring an audio and video stream from inside the home, available on his phone, when he heard the girlfriend speaking with another person about a plan to rob him. “When asked how he knows this, he said he was out of the house to buy some drinks, and he could hear her because he had video and audio streaming into his phone from inside his house,” police said.Marcus was told by dispatchers to wait at another location for officers to arrive. However, when officers arrived, he was not there. He had returned home instead. Police went to his home and found him deceased in the street in front of his home with multiple gunshots wounds. He had just exited his car when he was gunned down.

Brittny Fulwylie, 23, was charged with first-degree, felony murder and attempted armed robbery for the slaying of Marcus. A second male suspect has been arrested and is expected to be charged. Detectives revealed at least one telephone call between Fulwylie and the male suspect around the time of the slaying. Both were found to be in possession of handguns.
On the morning of his murder, Marcus posted, “I DONT NEED NO SHOOTER AROUND ME I DONT NEED NO MESSY WOMEN AROUND ME. IM HEADED IN ONE DIRECTION AND THATS TO THE MONEY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MADE YALL AFRAID TO SAY YALL WANNA BE RICH.”…
Friends say Marcus had changed his life after serving ten-years in prison. He became a business owner and tattoo artist. He opened a tattoo shop and had two young daughters and friends say he was a comedian. In a Facebook Live video in October, Marcus, with tears in his eyes, said that he wasn’t going to last long, predicting that he would die soon. Marcus is remembered for his generosity and kindness.
